My trip to Amsterdam.

Amsterdam. Everyone goes there at some point in their life, right? Well, lately it has been a craze with young people, so I decided to see what the fuss was about. So, here’s some of the things I did in Amsterdam.

Museums:

Amsterdam has many museums and I made the effort of going to most of them. I like history and museums anyway, so why not. I went to The Body Works museum, which is a traveling exposition of dissected human bodies, animals and other anatomical structures of the body hat have been preserved through the process of plastination. Gunther Von Hagens developed the preservation process which “unites subtle anatomy and modern polymer chemistry” in the late 1970’s. People gave their bodies to this artist when they died to have their bodies presented in museums. This was a fascinating place to go because you get to see what’s under the skin and learn about what happens within your body if you do and don’t do certain things.

I also went to Moco Museum. Which is full of Banksy’s art. I’m quite a fan of Banksy so this was something I definitely enjoyed and I would recommend going, even if you aren’t a fan because he’s work is so interesting, you’ll love it.

Ripley’s Believe it or not museum was another museum I went to. It is a American franchise, founded by Robert Ripley, which deals in bizarre events and items so strange and unusual that readers might question. Originally a newspaper panel, the Believe it or not feature proved popular and was later adapted in a wide variety of formats including radio, television, comic books, a book series and a chain of museums.

The museum is filled with different art and statues or things you would not believe. With stories of things and people that you wouldn’t think happened. It’s a great museum to go to, to see all the weird and wonderful things that have happened in the world, whether or not you believe it. It’s a fun and funky museum to walk around and I would definitely recommend.

One of the last museums I went to was the Red Light Secrets, Prostitution Museum. Located in the red light district, it was a fascinating museum to go into. Seeing what it’s like for the prostitutes and hearing stories from one of the prostitutes in Amsterdam as well as hearing stories of what use to be and what still happens now, it is very interesting. Yes, everyone knows it happens in Amsterdam but actually learning about it and finding out more is definitely worth it.

Canal boat ride:

Of course everyone knows that Amsterdam is full of canals and of course they use them for you to have a history boat ride round the city. I went on Flagship Amsterdam canal boat which served drinks on the way round while you chatted to the hosts about the city. This was so interested and beautiful. Seeing the sites in the sunny day, riding around the canals. It’s definitely a must do when going to Amsterdam, you also learn a lot more about the city you’re in.

Obviously being a away on holiday, I went to many bars and restaurants, all so good I couldn’t honestly pick one to talk about. But the great thing about Amsterdam is that you can walk around the city and find different bars and restaurants everywhere. I just recommend going in whichever one you think looks good and giving it a go because that’s what I did and it works, I promise.

Now, I would definitely say I enjoyed Amsterdam. It was a nice and relaxing holiday. Although I would also say I don’t get the hype about it. As nice as it is to go and see all the sights and the history, I don’t particularly get the whole idea and hype about it. I’m glad I went but I wouldn’t be in a rush to go back, if I were to. It’s a holiday you can do in a weekend I recon because honestly I couldn’t have been there any longer and I went for 3 nights. I would recommend it if you haven’t gone but personally I would go somewhere else.
