Beaulieu is a small village located on the south eastern edge of the New Forest national park in Hampshire, England, and home to both Palace House and the British National Motor Museum. All you need is to buy one ticket for all the attractions, you can also sign up for a free entry all year round, so you can visit as many times as you want.
The attractions include;
The Palace House where you can get a look into the Montagu family house, the guides giving you a tour and the feeling of how it feels to live in the Victorian time. In the setting of the New Forest, overlooking the Beaulieu River millpond, the house has been remodelled and extended during the 1800’s and is a fine example of a Victorian country house. Inside, its ecclesiastical heritage sets the grand gothic tone for a home bristling with character and adorned with family treasures, portraits, and memorabilia.
The British National Motor Museum shows you hundreds of cars and bikes throughout the centuries. Walking around the building you get to see how they have all involved throughout the years. From the earliest motor carriages to classic family saloons, the world-famous National Motor Museum has one of the finest collections of cars, motorcycles and motoring memorabilia in the world. Also from legendary F1 cars and land speed record breakers for the speed freaks, to incredible examples of pioneering motoring for the history-buffs. And they’ve now got a Chitty Chitty Bang Bang exhibit because of it being 50 years since, with the costumes and cars from the actually film, if you’re a fan you’ll love it.
The Secret Army Exhibit. Uncover Beaulieu’s history as a top secret training establishment for special agents of the Special Operations Executive (SOE) during World War Two. Over 3,000 SOE agents were trained in the dark arts of warfare at Beaulieu before undertaking daring and dangerous missions behind enemy lines.
So if you have an interest in the army and what went on this exhibit is the best thing for you to walk around.
World of Top Gear. If you are a fan on top gear then this is a exhibit for you. Walk round this tent and you’ll find cars that top gear made and drove around the country. With episodes playing on TV’s so you can see the vehicles in action. This is a great stop for super fans.
On Screen Cars is a small exhibit with cars from different films and programmes. Mr Bean’s mini, Del Boy’s Trotters car and many more. If you are a film fanatic then this will definitely excite you. Seeing all the original cars in one place to look and read about.
The Monorail and Veteran Bus is a up high train that goes round the whole park, letting you see everything from high up. This is a great thing to do if you have older people or young children with you, so they can sit down and see the whole park.
Beaulieu is definitely a day out for the family and friends. Seeing the history and enjoying the views is just the start of it. I would definitely recommend a visit.
