Netflix Binge Watch: Bates Motel

The Bates Motel come out in March 2013 but I have only just started watching it. It consists of five season each containing 10 episodes. This programme drags you right into it from the beginning with the first episode someone dying.

A mother moves with her son, after her husband dies, buying a motel but nothing is normal about this family or about their life. This programme was created by Alfred Hitchcock and is based on the book of the same name which was written by Robert Bloch. Which in turn is loosely based on the true story of serial killer Ed Gein. This whole programme is also adapted from the film psycho created in 1960.

Character, Norman Bates is a young man, suffering from dissociative identity disorder, who runs a small off-highway motel in Fairvale, California. As a child, Bates suffered severe emotional abuse at the hands of his mother, Norma, who taught him that all aspects of sex were sinful and that other women were whores.

Throughout this whole programme Norman Bates gets blackouts which make him do evil things which he does not remember when he wakes up. His mother ends up covering everything up and trying to protect him the best she can, although it does not turn out the best for her all the time.

This series grabbed me in from the beginning and I couldn’t stop watching. I am at the end of the final season and I am actually quite sad for it to end. As messed up as this programme becomes when you watch it, it is so interesting and intriguing to not stop watching. It takes you into the mind of a psycho and makes you think and feel weird.

This programme on Netflix is definitely something I would recommend you to watch, especially if you are into psycho/thriller or crime genres. So, if you have nothing to watch and are trying to find something to grab your attention. Bates Motel is definitely the one to go for.
